In her practice, Shakiba is honoured to connect with her clients and hold the beautiful intricacies of their stories. In session she meets clients with warmth and empathy, while also gently challenging them to empower themselves in taking the necessary steps on their holistic and unique path of healing.

Shakiba has experience working with depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, relationship issues, identity issues, 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, cultural issues, immigration/refugee/newcomers, BPD, life transitions, self-care, self-compassion, and neurodivergence, trauma and (C-)PTSD. She has a special interest in working with young adults and neurodivergence.

Shakiba is rooted in a trauma-informed, humanistic, inclusive, culturally responsive, anti-racist, and integrative stance in her work. Depending on each client’s wants and needs, she may draw from approaches such as but not limited to psychodynamic, narrative, solution-focused, strengths-based, mindfulness and meditation, self-compassion, somatic experiencing, and art-based therapies, as well as CBT, DBT, and ACT.

As part of the Resiliency Clinic Team, Shakiba enjoys working with clients to help them recognize, embrace, and lean into their strengths, fully embodying their innate resilience.

Shakiba holds an MA degree in Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul’s University, and a B.Sc. Honours degree in Biology with Concentration in Health Science from Carleton University. Prior to her work at the Resiliency Clinic, she has provided therapy within community counselling clinics, including programs serving refugees and newcomers and women’s anti-violence.
