Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Valerie is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in gerontology. Valerie works with individuals 18 and over who face challenges with anxiety, depression, addiction, life transitions, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, and interpersonal challenges. She also has experience working with individuals living with symptoms of borderline personality disorder and ADHD.
Valerie believes that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for effective psychotherapy and counselling. She prioritizes creating a safe, non-judgmental, and trusting environment for her clients to feel comfortable in sharing their experiences. Valerie genuinely cares about the well-being of clients and is honoured to be a fellow traveller in their journeys towards ongoing self-discovery and growth.
Valerie adopts a holistic and evidence-based approach that incorporates various aspects of acceptance and commitment, cognitive-behavioural, dialectal-behavioural, and emotion-focused therapy. She also draws upon techniques to cultivate mindfulness and self-compassion. Valerie strongly believes in tailoring her approach based on the needs, concerns, and preferences of clients.
