Mia Gemmell-Kovac is a student therapist and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and is completing her practicum placement with the Resiliency Clinic.
She has ample experience supporting both adults and youth through addiction counselling and community mental health services. She recognizes that meaningful therapeutic work begins with feeling heard, understood, and accepted. Mia provides a warm, calm energy and emphasizes the importance of truly understanding and working alongside her clients through hardship, life transitions, and relational difficulties.
Mia believes that clients are the experts in their own lives, and strives to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, supportive, and non-judgemental. Through curiosity, empathy, and genuine care, she supports clients in exploring their experiences, recognizing their strengths, developing meaningful coping strategies, and working towards goals that truly matter to them.
Mia’s approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and centered around the clients needs. She draws on various theoretical approaches based on the clients unique goals and circumstances. In particular, she draws on narrative therapy, somatic techniques, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches.
As a developing therapist, Mia is committed to ongoing learning and professional development while providing thoughtful, respectful, and individualized care under clinical supervision. She offers in-person and virtual sessions. Mia also offers free 15-minute phone or video consultations before booking.
