Registered Psychotherapist

Alyssa is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Alyssa works with individuals 18 and over experiencing anxiety, depression, personality disorders, self-harm and trauma. Alyssa also provides couples therapy.

Alyssa has and continues to spend time with the Kids Help Phone working with youth in distress. She is also a member of the Optimal Sexual Experiences research team, who are currently running couples group therapy.

Alyssa’s treatment approach places a strong emphasis on self-compassion, warmth and understanding. Alyssa offers a person-centered, integrative approach to counselling, drawing from Cognitive-Behavioural therapy, Attachment theory, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, while also employing aspects of Mindfulness and Emotion-focused work.

Alyssa provides a caring and safe environment for her clients, valuing the process of getting to understand them on a deeper level. Therapy will be both emotionally explorative and solution-focused each session, allowing the client to learn about one’s thoughts and feelings, as well as develop coping skills in order to reduce negative symptoms.
